Someone posted something about this to runners a few days ago, and I thought I'd repost, because the more people that know, the better. From September 7-22, 2008, you can sign up as a Donor through the National Marrow Donor Program for free. The cost is generally $52 (yeah, I find it weird that they usually make you pay to give something, too; I understand that they have costs to cover, but it also limits who can sign up in a very problematic way), but due to a donation from NASCAR, it will cost you nothing. It's not always easy for those in need to find a good donor match, and the more names in the database, the better. Donating marrow can save someone's life. There are some limitations to who can sign up, but most physical conditions are not a problem. Details are on the website. Click here for more details and to sign up.I just got my materials in the mail today, and taking the tissues samples for them was totally painless (just a swab of the cheeks) and took about two minutes.
